Qualification Withdrawal Policy – CILEX
QUALIFICATION WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Level 6 Law and Practice Diploma
Introduction
The Qualification Withdrawal Policy outlines the procedures and principles governing the withdrawal of the Level 6 Law and Practice Diploma. This ensures transparency, fairness, and minimal disruption to students affected by such decisions. Datalaw is committed to providing adequate notice and support to students in the event of a qualification withdrawal.
Scope
This policy applies to all current and prospective students, academic staff, and stakeholders involved in the Level 6 Law and Practice Diploma. It covers both planned and exceptional withdrawals of the qualification.
Reasons for Withdrawal
A qualification may be withdrawn due to:
- Changes in regulatory or accreditation requirements.
- Low enrolment numbers making the programme unsustainable.
- Institutional strategic decisions.
- Significant curriculum changes or replacement with a revised programme.
Notification and Consultation
The institution will provide a minimum of one academic year’s notice before withdrawing a qualification. Affected students will be consulted and informed about alternative study options, including transfer to a comparable programme or completion within a reasonable timeframe. External regulatory bodies, partners, and accrediting institutions will be notified where applicable.
Student Support and Transition Arrangements
To minimise disruption, Datalaw will allow current students to complete their studies within a defined teach-out period; offer alternative pathways, such as credit transfer to other programmes; provide academic guidance and student support services to assist with transitions; and ensure financial considerations, including tuition fees and refunds, are handled fairly.
Appeals and Complaints
Students affected by a qualification withdrawal may raise concerns through Datalaw’s complaints and appeals procedures, and seek independent advice from student support services or relevant regulatory bodies.
Monitoring and Review
This policy will be reviewed periodically to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and institutional requirements. Any amendments will be communicated in a timely manner.
