FAIR ACCESS POLICY – CILEX 

Level 6 Law and Practice Diploma  

  

Introduction  

The Fair Access Policy ensures that all individuals, regardless of background or personal circumstances, have equal opportunities to access, participate in, and succeed within the Level 6 Law and Practice Diploma programme. This policy aligns with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Equality Act 2010, and reflects the institution’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.  

 

Scope  

This policy applies to all students, staff, applicants, and external stakeholders engaged with the Level 6 Law and Practice Diploma. It supports fair admissions, inclusive teaching and learning, and reasonable adjustments for students with specific needs.  

 

Objectives  

 

  • To ensure fair and transparent admissions procedures.  
  • To remove barriers to participation and success in legal education.  
  • To promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • To provide appropriate support and adjustments for students with additional needs.  
  • To foster a culture of respect and equality within the institution.  

 

  

Fair Admissions and Recruitment  

 

The institution is committed to a fair and transparent admissions process that:  

  • Is based on merit and potential, with clear eligibility criteria. 
  • Considers non-traditional qualifications and prior learning.  
  • Ensures reasonable adjustments for applicants with disabilities.  
  • Offers guidance and support to all prospective students.  

  

Inclusive Learning and Teaching  

 

To ensure an equitable learning experience, the programme will:   

  • Use diverse teaching methodologies to accommodate different learning styles.  
  • Provide accessible learning materials and digital resources.  
  • Promote a curriculum that reflects a wide range of perspectives and legal traditions. 
  • Ensure that assessment methods are inclusive and fair.  

  

Student Support and Reasonable Adjustments  

Students with disabilities or additional needs can access reasonable adjustments, including extended deadlines, alternative assessments, and assistive technology.

Financial assistance and hardship support are provided where necessary to ensure fair access.  

 

Monitoring and Review  

This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and responsive to student needs. Data on student access, retention, and achievement will be monitored to identify areas for improvement.
